“It is important to celebrate pride because somewhere someone thinks they’re better off dead than being themselves.”
This is a powerful quote that was making the rounds on many Instagram stories. Celebrating Pride has gained an especially significant meaning during the Pandemic. While June is generally a time for jubilation and celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride, parades and other events took a different turn due to health safety concerns. But Pride also serves as a reminder of the struggles, before the victories and continued efforts of awareness and a fight for equality.
The LGBTQ+ community is one of the most vulnerable groups susceptible to suffering from a range of mental health issues. We, here at LonePack, stand in support of the LGBTQ+ community and have been voicing for greater awareness. Here are a few of our initiatives that focus on this important area.
From the Blog
Some of our latest blog posts from this month.
The Invisible Spectrums: Asexuality & Aromanticism
A look at an underrepresented section of the LGBTQ+ community.
“With asexuality and aromanticism being very fluid, it is often such that the identities keep changing with the passage of time. But that does not mean that any of them are invalid.”
On the other side of the Closet Door: the problems plaguing the LGBTQ+ community
Raising awareness regarding a few of the many problems LGBTQ+ people face even after coming out.
“While the life experience of an LGBTQ+ person is often compressed into the, ‘coming out’ or ‘transition’ event, shedding light on other day-to-day issues faced by this community might help provide a different perspective, a better understanding and hence, hopefully, greater awareness.”
LonePack Conversations
In our latest addition to 'The Alternative Therapy Series', the following are part of the highly engaging Conversations we’ve had:
Animal-Assisted Therapy ft. Dr. Taylor Chastain Griffin
“There are a lot of different ways that the animal can come in and help achieve those goals but it becomes Animal-Assisted Therapy when there’s measurable outcomes that relate to the interaction that we have with the animal.”
Expressive Arts Therapy ft. Avantika Malhautra
“If you look at it at a really basic level, it’s about playing, it’s about shaping, it’s about creating and experimenting in the realm of a particular theme that’s being explored in therapy, which is linked to what the person came in for and the issue they might be bringing in.”
